What:
This week we have been focusing on making a welcome letter for all of our students to view. Doing this as a group makes it more fun for me! Some things that crossed my mind while doing this assignment and how I could make it fun and exciting were as follows: having a theme, lots of pictures, colors, good explanations, making it known your classroom has the desire for it to be a fun, and safe environment. As I mentioned before this assignment was fun for me because it was a group project, however it was also hard doing it in partners and only being able to communicate over the Google doc. Another thing I know I struggled with was being able to keep it to one page. There are so many things you want the students and parents to know it's hard to break it down to one page, or a paragraph a person. I really liked that is was in Google doc and that made it even easier than an email because you didn't have to have an attachment a million times.
So What:
I have learned that this is what a teacher will do (not that I didn't know before but now I'm certain). As for me wanting to be a kindergarten teacher this assignment will be key for me and getting my studnets evolved and parents. I feel that by using this assignment I can and will get the students engaged! This is important to know how to use the Google docs, in some ways it is ten times easier than email, writing, and conversational. As the years progress so does the technology and to be able to reach your students you need to be using technology constantly in classroom!
Now What:
As the weeks progress in this course I hope to have learned more ways to incorporate the technology aspects into my classroom. Not only do I want to use technology with my students but this will be a great way to communicate with the other faculty members and my team members. As of right now I'm putting together a collage of all the things we have done in this course so far. It doesn't consist of a lot but I can tell by the time I'm through this is something I'm going to enjoy. Hopefully by practicing using all of the fun technology activities I can get creative and think of ways my kindergartners can use technology as well.
